Just a quick note to thank all who have continued to pray for "A Voz no Deserto" podcast--it is indeed reaching around the world! Thank you Bro. Pinheiro for linking to our podcast from your blog (we have returned the favor). Listed below the main body of this email is a list of the podcast download locations to date -current as of earlier today.

It's exciting what God is doing! AND as Pastor Joseph Domingues has expressed, it's not just about him--we are all laborers together with Jesus Christ!

Before I forget to mention, this outreach has the potential to positively effect your local area! as we are advertising all over the world on Craig's List with the intent of directing listeners to congregations in/near their local area!

The main purpose of this communique is to offer you or some Portuguese speaking Apostolic minister you know who has recordings (on CD or other digital format/media) of themselves or others--if you would like --we would like YOU or who ever you can direct our way to come and appear as an occasional GUEST SPEAKER on "Voz no Deserto!"

I will go ahead and qualify (though I'm sure it's unnecessary to do so) that we are looking for ONLY EVANGELISTIC, EDIFYING, OUTREACHING, SOUL WINNING, HOPE-INSPIRING types of recordings--enough said.

Please provide the highest quality audio file possible, preferably in "lossless" .WAV format on CD, or high quality (320 kbps) .MP3 format, etc.. ...

Please also provide (if possible) the best photograph of the speaker to be posted for all the world to see on that show (I am able to edit in PhotoShop if not perfect). Any pictures appropriate for Portuguese evangelism that you might want to provide copies of to use on the site will also be helpful...

Because the best audio formats are typically too large to email, just send me a note requesting an address to send CD's to by mail. ( voznodeserto@charter.net )

Bio: Bill and Bonnie Markham, formerly of Kingsburg, California, received their appointment as missionaries to Brazil in 1980. After completing two productive terms in Brazil, the Markhams transferred to Portugal to give leadership to the struggling church. He stated, “In Portugal I am the field superintendent. I have legalized the church and restructured the by-laws and am involved in leadership training, evangelism, and church planting.” In 1994 his responsibility expanded to include the UPC of Spain. The past several years have been difficult for the Markhams. Painful back surgeries have kept Bonnie Markham confined to California. He shuttles between California and the field, desperately trying to be both a good husband and a productive missionary. It is hoped that her condition will improve so that she will be able to accompany her husband to the field.

Luz, dádivas e dons

Passaram-se as festas e o Ano Novo graciosamente ressurgiu. Celebrámos o Natal, tempo de luz e dádivas.

Indubitavelmente, “Deus é luz e não há nele trevas nenhumas.” (I João 1:5). Ora essa mesma luz, o Senhor da glória, um dia fez-se carne e habitou entre nós: “Ali estava a luz verdadeira que alumia a todo o homem que vem ao mundo.” (I João 1:9). Esse mesmo verbo criador, o Senhor Jesus Cristo, afirmou em João 12:48: “Eu sou a luz que veio ao mundo.” No entanto, João, o apóstolo, declara: “Estava no mundo, e o mundo foi feito por ele e o mundo não o conheceu.” Em I Cor. 2:7-8, Paulo relata ainda que os príncipes deste mundo não conheceram a sabedoria revelada para nossa glória, porque se a conhecessem, “nunca crucificariam ao Senhor da glória.”
A Bíblia Sagrada, consecutivamente, nos revela o motivo da sua vinda ao mundo. Através de Zacarias, em Lucas 1:68 e 77-79, profetiza: “Porque o Senhor nos visitou e remiu a seu povo. Para dar o conhecimento na remissão dos nossos pecados. Pelas entranhas de misericórdia do nosso Deus, com que do alto do Oriente nos visitou (o Oriente situa-se no lado direito, que significa poder, querendo dizer que o poder do alto nos visitou) para alumiar os que estão assentados em trevas e sombra da morte, a fim de dirigir os nossos pés pelo caminho da paz.” Simeão acrescenta, em Lucas 2:32: “Para alumiar as nações e para glória do seu povo Israel.” Os apóstolos em Actos 15:14 declararam: “Simão relatou como primeiramente Deus visitou os gentios para tomar deles um povo para o seu nome.”

Cada um destes versículos acrescenta um ponto, contudo, todos convergem no facto de Deus ter visitado o mundo, tanto israelita quanto gentio, para nos conceder a salvação, através da remissão dos pecados, em seu nome.

Aquele Deus todo-poderoso do Antigo Testamento, o grande Eu Sou, que outrora aparecera a Moisés numa sarça ardente, guiara o seu povo, surgindo, de dia, em forma de nuvem, á noite, em forma duma coluna de fogo e em tempo de sede, como uma rocha inabalável, jorrando água viva e refrescante. Este Deus forte, o pai da eternidade, de quem os israelitas nunca haviam visto o rosto, naquele deserto providenciara dádivas e dons a um povo peregrino, para que edificassem um templo de adoração e oração, naquele areal imenso.

Mas vindo a plenitude dos tempos, este Deus maravilhoso, quis dos dois povos fazer um (a igreja do Antigo testamento e a igreja do Novo Testamento, israelitas e gentios): Porquanto, despira-se da glória, ao vestir-se de humanidade. O imaculado justo juiz, o Leão de Judá, por muito nos amar, vestiu a pele de Cordeiro a fim de nos remir.

O mistério que sempre estivera oculto a todos os homens, revelara-se então: o seu rosto santo. Paulo, em II Cor. 4:4, enuncia;” O deus deste século cegou o entendimento dos incrédulos para que lhes não resplandeça, a luz do evangelho de Cristo, que é a imagem de Deus.” E no versículo 6 adianta: “Porque Deus que disse que das trevas resplandecesse a luz é quem resplandeceu em nossos corações para iluminação do conhecimento da glória de Deus, na face de Jesus Cristo.”
Ora, Deus sendo luz, isto é, sendo santo, ordenou que sejamos santos, porque sem a santidade jamais veremos a Deus. A santidade concerne o nosso interior, o nosso exterior, enfim, encerra todo o nosso ser. Por isso, Paulo, falando aos Fil. 2:14, explica: “Para que sejais irrepreensíveis e sinceros, filhos de Deus inculpáveis no meio duma geração corrompida e perversa, entre a qual resplandeceis como astros no mundo.” Novamente, em Efé. 5:8, refere: “Porque noutro tempo éreis trevas, mas agora sois luz no Senhor; andai como filhos da luz.” Ainda falando em I Tes. 5:4-5 anuncia: ”Mas vós, irmãos, já não estais em trevas para que aquele dia vos surpreenda como um ladrão, porque todos vós sois filhos da luz e filhos do dia; nós não somos da noite nem das trevas.”

É imperativo que sejamos filhos da luz, porque a única luz que o mundo verá será a nossa santidade, a qual recebemos do Senhor. Para nos tornarmos santos, ou seja, salvos, principiamos com dois passos: nascendo da água e nascendo do Espírito, conforme Jesus nos instrui em João 3:3. Dessa forma passamos a ser a igreja do Senhor, a sua noiva imaculada, o que significa que recebemos o seu nome no baptismo das águas, assim como uma porção do seu santo Espírito, o que está em conformidade com Actos 4:12, actos 2:38-39.

Invariavelmente, Jesus, na sua infinita misericórdia, apelou, quer a multidões, quer individualmente: “Quem tiver sede, venha a mim e beba.” Quem não beber do Espírito de Jesus Cristo “esse tal não é dele“ (Romanos 8:9). Esta é a dádiva mais preciosa que, alguma vez, podemos receber. Através dessa dádiva maravilhosa o Senhor concede á igreja todos os dons, pois ao recebê-lo, o Senhor nos dispensa todos os dons que nos oferecem luz. Entre eles, o dom da sabedoria, da ciência, de profecia, de cura, da operação de milagres, de discernimento dos espíritos, de variedade de línguas e sobretudo o do amor.

Existe um ditado português que diz: “ Ninguém pode dar aquilo que não tem.” Jesus concede-nos o Espírito Santo, porque este é o seu próprio Espírito, a água cristalina que sacia a nossa sede. Por isso ele O pôde soprar sobre os apóstolos antes da sua ascensão e pôde, igualmente, afirmar: “Não vos deixarei órfãos, voltarei para vós.” Na verdade, voltou para nós ao encher-nos do seu precioso Espírito.

Este Deus resplandecente, que tanto Paulo e João viram brilhando muito mais do que o sol, é quem nos concede a luz através da boa dádiva do seu Espírito e dons perfeitos que dele recebemos. Tiago 1:17 declara: “Toda a boa dádiva e todo o dom perfeito vem do alto, descendo do pai das luzes, em quem não há sombra de variação.”

Quem será este imutável pai das luzes? No livro escrito aos Hebreus 13:8 lemos: “Jesus Cristo é o mesmo ontem, hoje e eternamente” e de facto, Efé. 4:8 confirma: “Subindo ao alto, levou cativo o cativeiro e deu dons aos homens.” A Ele seja dada toda a honra e glória eternamente!

Glorificar o nome de Deus

Tema: Os Dez Mandamentos
Lição 3. Glorificar o nome de Deus

O 3º Mandamento: “Não tomarás o nome do Senhor teu Deus em vão; [Isto é, de ânimo leve, frivolamente, em falsa afirmação ou profanação]; porque o Senhor não terá por inocente o que tomar o seu nome em vão.” Êxodo 20:7).

Deus concedeu o Seu nome ao homem. Não foi o homem que Lhe atribuiu o nome. Os nomes que Deus nos outorga revelam aquilo que Ele é e não qual deles é. No antigo testamento, Moisés foi inspirado por Deus a escrever YHWH ou Jeová (Gén. 2:4), que significa aquele que existe por si mesmo. Por outras palavras, não foi criado; é eterno. Tão pouco lhes era permitido proferirem o Seu nome.

Então em Mat.1:21 Deus revela o Seu nome: Jesus (que em Hebraico traduz-se literalmente por: Jeová é nosso salvador ou Jeová é nossa salvação) Deus não cessou de existir por Si mesmo mas, na verdade, acrescentou a salvação ao seu nome do Antigo Testamento. Hoje, é-nos permitido a sua menção, unicamente, para salvação e oração.

Ler Isaías 45:23, Romanos 14:11 e Filipenses 2:9-11

O Antigo Testamento declara que todo o ser humano, que alguma vez, haja existido nesta terra, comparecerá perante Deus. O Novo Testamento revela-nos esse evento. Como nos aprontaremos para esse encontro? Através do arrependimento, e tomando o seu nome no baptismo (Efé. 3:15 “Do qual toda a família no céu e na terra toma o nome”). O arrependimento é reconhecer estarmos separados de Deus, devido ao pecado, confessando-o em desgosto ao Senhor e receber o Seu perdão. O baptismo é o que nos é exigido por Deus, através da fé, para que os nossos pecados sejam apagados aos olhos do Senhor. A Bíblia mostra claramente a sua essencialidade e o modo como se deve realizar (Mar. 16:16, João 3:5, Act. 2:38). Dado ao poder atribuído por Deus a este nome, devemos ser deveras cuidadosos na forma como o utilizamos.e como Ele é visto na nossa vida.

Ler II Tessalonicenses 1:11-12

Deus deseja que o seu nome seja glorificado em “nós” e isso sucede ao falarmos e agirmos de uma forma santa. Comportando-nos correctamente, passamos a ser uma inspiração, levando outros a aproximarem-se de Deus, mas procedendo de modo errado, afastamo-los do Senhor. Principalmente, quando alguém o presencia. Isto é o mesmo que tomarmos o nome de Deus em vão. O termo “vão” significa vazio ou inútil. Por outras palavras, tomar o nome de Deus em vão significa não vivermos no santo propósito, para o qual fomos chamados. Portanto, Deus considera essas acções de vãs e inúteis. A única forma de agirmos correctamente é através do enchimento do Espírito Santo (João 3:5 e Actos. 2:38).

Ler Apocalipse 16:9

Ao endurecer o coração, a humanidade ofende a Deus, amaldiçoando-O. No entanto, é necessário que se arrependam e rendam glória ao Seu nome.

Ler Actos 4:12

Sendo o nome do Senhor tão santo e poderoso, facilmente, se compreende a importância de guardarmos o 3º mandamento, sem o usarmos de ânimo leve ou frivolamente, nem para falsa acusação ou profanação. O nome de Jesus Cristo veio até nós através da cruz: pela sua morte, sepultamento e ressurreição, para a nossa salvação. I Pedro 3:18 mostra que o nome de Jesus é o único acesso a Deus.

O nome que Deus nos concedeu para Sua glória é de elevada importância para o Senhor e deverá sê-lo, igualmente, para nós. O 3º mandamento ensina-nos que Deus espera que vivamos de forma a glorificar o Seu nome.

A imagem de Deus

O 2º Mandamento: “Não farás para ti imagem de escultura, nem alguma semelhança do que em cima nos céus, nem em baixo na terra, nem nas águas debaixo da terra. Não te encurvarás a elas nem as servirás; porque eu, o Senhor teu Deus, sou Deus zeloso, que visito a maldade dos pais nos filhos até à terceira e quarta geração daqueles que me aborrecem. E faço misericórdia em milhares aos que me amam e guardam os meus mandamentos. (Êxodo 20:4-6).

“Mãe, pai, qual é o aspecto de Deus?” Esta é uma pergunta que as crianças vulgarmente fazem aos pais. Além do mais, a Bíblia fala da ”face de Deus” e “ das mãos de Deus”. No entanto, entendemos que estes termos são de interpretação metafórica, isto é, de sentido figurado; não são literalmente atribuídos a parte física divina. As nações pagãs, que viviam ao redor de Israel possuíam muitos deuses em forma de estátuas ou imagens de escultura, aos quais veneravam. Não obstante, os israelitas foram instruídos a adorar somente o único e verdadeiro Deus.

Ler João 4:24:

Jesus afirma que o verdadeiro Deus é “Espírito”. Como poderemos esboçar uma gravura do Espírito? Jesus compara esse mesmo Espírito ao vento (João 3:8) As nações pagãs esculpiam imagens de pessoas e de animais representando os seus deuses, mas como poderíamos, alguma vez, conceber a forma do vento?

Ler João 1:18

Jamais alguém viu a Deus, enquanto Espírito. No entanto, Jesus Cristo, o filho unigénito de Deus, declarou ser a única identidade visível existente do verdadeiro Deus.

Ler Colossenses 1:15

Neste versículo, o termo traduzido por “imagem” pode também significar figura do “Deus invisível”. O mesmo sucede quando me encontro perante si; só poderei observar a pessoa por detrás dos seus olhos, vendo a parte física do seu ser e escutando a sua voz. Isso é o que João 14:8-9, II Cor. 5:19 e I Tim. 3:16 referem.

No universo inteiro, jamais conseguiremos visualizar alguma outra forma do Deus verdadeiro. Ele é único e a sua única imagem é Jesus. Portanto, qualquer outra figura é falsa e não corresponde à Verdade. Deus, ao fazer o homem à sua imagem e semelhança, revelou as suas intenções para as nossas vidas, no tocante ás nossas palavras e acções; que agíssemos em conformidade com Ele, ou seja, como Jesus: Jamais devemos orarmos a qualquer ser para além do próprio Deus. Isso seria negarmos a sua existência, desvalorizando a necessidade de alterarmos os nossos caminhos pecaminosos. Porém, ao rendermos a adoração ao único Deus verdadeiro, somos desafiados a tornarmo--nos pessoas melhores.

Deus deseja que tenhamos um relacionamento pessoal com Ele. Uma vez que Ele é o criador, jamais poderíamos conceber algo que substitua aquele a quem levamos as nossas orações.

O segundo mandamento ensina-nos que Deus nos criou e deseja manter um relacionamento pessoal com cada um de nós. Orarmos a quem quer que seja, para além do próprio Deus, seria não admitirmos a necessidade que temos d’Ele e de um relacionamento pessoal com Ele.

Greetings-

The year 2008 has been a year blessed by the LORD. We were are rapidly approaching 2009 and have so much to thank the LORD for. In 2008 we had our "National Portuguese Evangelism Conference" in Tiverton, RI. It was a wonderful conference with many first time attendees.

During the conference much networking, passion and vision casting was made. It was at the conference that this blog was developed.

Following the conference a vow was made by many to see the Portuguese Speaking brethren united at all times. We pledged to be in consistent prayer and contact. WOW, what a challenge this has been from brethren from Azores, California, Boston, Rhode Island and Portugal. However, we have made it and are stronger and more united than ever.

Much time, energy, prayer and dedication has been made by each to this blog. I appreciate the efforts everyone has made in making this ministry a success.

Please continue to pray for all Portuguese Speaking Nations and Brethren. Keep the faith. Guard it , Live and Love it.

GOD has given us his power (Holy Ghost) and the unity of the brethren. We can do all things through him because he is hour strength.

I would like to thank our Elder (Rev. Joe Domingues) for his burden and passion to see the Portuguese Speaking Brethren united. We love and appreciate Elder and Sister Domingues.

Lesson 2. The Image of God

The 2nd Commandment: “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments” (Exodus 20:4-6).
“Mommy, Daddy, what does God look like?” Many children have asked their parents this question and many parents have been perplexed as to how to answer. After all, the Bible does speak of the “face of God” and the “hand of the Lord.” But these terms are understood to be metaphorical (word pictures); they do not mean that we can understand what God actually looks like. The pagan nations that lived around the nation of Israel had many gods, which they worshiped in the form of statues and totem poles. But the Israelites were instructed to worship only the one true God.

Jesus tells us that the one true God is “Spirit.” How do you draw a picture of Spirit? Jesus described the Spirit as being like the wind (John 3:8). The pagan nations carved images of people and animals to represent their gods, but how do you carve an image of the wind?

No one has ever seen God as the Spirit. But Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, has declared Him—that is, Jesus is the only visible identity we have of the one true God.
Colossians 1:15
The word translated “image” in this verse can also refer to the portrayal of the “invisible God”. This is just like I cannot see the actual “you”, the person behind your eyes, except I see your physical being and hear your voice. This is what Jesus meant in - John 14:8-9, 2Cor 5:19 & 1Ti 3:16.

Nothing else in the entire universe is like the one true God. He is unique. And the only image we have of Him is Jesus. Therefore, any other image is false and is not the Truth. When God made man in His own image, He was revealing His intent for our lives—that we would speak and act like Him, that we would be like Jesus. Praying to something other than God Himself, is actually denying God, and we do not feel we need to change from our sinful ways. But when we worship the true God, we are challenged to become better people.
Read Hebrews 11:6
God wants us to have a personal relationship with Him. Since God made us, then there is no way we can make anything to pray to that will replace God.

The 2nd Commandment teaches us that God made us and cares for us, and wants to have a personal relationship with each of us. Anything we pray to other than God is telling Him that we do not need Him, and that we don’t feel it important to have a personal relationship with Him.

Canaã, desde os tempos antigos, representa a terra que Deus escolheu para nela habitar, juntamente com o seu povo. Aquele povo que O escolhe seguir e servir, em amor. O povo escolhido, a nação eleita, o povo abençoado. Canaã terra de bençãos, de milagres, de pureza, de promessas, de vitória, de alegria e paz.

No entanto, Jesus sempre usou parábolas para descrever assuntos espirituais através do quotidiano. Porquanto, o Senhor e Mestre aproveitou esta situação para revelar e ilustrar a Boda Nupcial Espiritual, ou seja entre Deus e a sua noiva.

Assim sendo, Jesus ao realizar o primeiro milagre em Canaã, utilizou-o para mostrar verdades espirituais, até então ocultas aos olhos duma noiva prestes a tornar-se Esposa, revelando que a Boda de Canaã consiste numa cerimónia que liga Deus à humanidade. Uma cerimónia de bençãos em que Deus e a sua igreja passam a ser um. Esta começa, verdadeiramente, a disfrutar da comunhão íntima com Deus, a receber todas as gloriosas bençãos, e principalmente a salvação, libertando-se do pecado. E eis que, como de costume, Jesus utiliza uma cerimónia terrena para explicar uma cerimónia espiritual; o primeiro milagre entre aquele povo de deseja ser o seu povo...

Analisemos este glorioso relato bíblico: Ali perante convidados, perante o homem e acima de tudo, perante o Senhor da Glória, é revelado o desejo de união de duas partes, ou seja a União do Noivo e da noiva e assim através desta cerimónia é concretizado o desejo de ambos; passarem a pertencer um ao outro. É uma cerimonia alegre, ouve-se o som de júbilo e de louvor, promessas de amor mútuo e de fidelidade, promessa de uma vida juntos em que haja o que houver, “estarei contigo todos os dias...“ glória a Deus!

Lendo João 2:6-7: ”E estavam ali postas seis talhas de pedra, para as purificações dos judeus, e em cada uma cabiam dois ou três almudes. Disse-lhes Jesus: Enchei de água essas talhas. E encheram-nas até em cima.”, vemos os discípulos, ou seja, os homens de Deus prontos a cumprir a Sua palavra, escutam Jesus pedindo que encham as talhas que servem para a purificação dos Judeus, para purificação dos habitantes de Canaã, para purificação do povo que deseja ardentemente servir e seguir o único Deus verdadeiro. E aqui, os discípulos fazem a sua parte, cumprindo a sua tarefa, obedecendo à sua, à Palavra do Mestre e “enchem as talhas”.

A cerimónia não termina ali, as talhas que servem para purificação dos Judeus, em nome de Jesus foram cheias de água, ao redor prossegue o júbilo, continua a ouvir-se os cânticos e eis que algo muito especial, algo maravilhoso, toma lugar. O primeiro milagre que se realiza em Canaã, entre aquele povo que obedecendo à Sua Palavra enchem as talhas, que sendo inundadas de água estão agora cheias de vinho. Um vinho divinal, um vinho não feito por mãos humanas, um vinho celestial que chegou ali, através do sopro do Espírito de Jesus e da sua voz santa; um vinho especial, um vinho muito bom guardado para uma ocasião também muito especial João 2:10: “E disse-lhe: Todo o homem põe primeiro o vinho bom e, quando já têm bebido bem, então o inferior; mas tu guardaste até agora o bom vinho.”

Sim, na verdade, o bom vinho foi reservado para as Bodas de Canaã. Para a igreja do Novo Testamento. O vinho servido anteriormente não era o bom vinho. João 2:11 declara: “Jesus principiou assim os seus sinais em Canaã da Galileia, e manifestou a sua glória; e os seus discípulos creram nele.” Este é aquele primeiro milagre que leva os seus discípulos a crerem nele. Este é, de facto, o sinal inicial entre o povo que O deseja seguir. Uma cerimónia em que participa a noiva e noivo. abençoando a humanidade; as talhas de água sendo cheias e, o próprio Deus enchendo essas mesmas talhas, os vasos, que somos nós, do vinho celestial, ou seja, com o seu glorioso Espírito, abençoando tudo e todos.

Eis as bodas de Canaã. Cumpre--se Actos 2:38 “E disse-lhes Pedro: Arrependei-vos, e cada um de vós seja baptizado em nome de Jesus Cristo, para perdão dos pecados; e recebereis o dom do Espírito Santo; Porque a promessa vos diz respeito a vós, a vossos filhos, e a todos os que estão longe, a tantos quantos Deus nosso Senhor chamar”; a noiva sendo purificada dos seus pecados através da água do baptismo, recebendo o Nome do Noivo. Cumpre-se Efésios 5:18 ” E não vos embriagueis com vinho, em que há contenda, mas enchei-vos do Espírito;”

Deus enche-nos com o vinho bom, o glorioso, o poder de Deus em nós. Inicia-se uma vida de verdadeira comunhão espiritual, uma vida de fidelidade, uma vida de amor, uma vida de devoção, uma vida de paz, uma vida de promessas realizadas, uma vida de vitórias, e uma vida de milagres através do nome do Noivo e do Seu Espírito que nos tornam na sua verdadeira esposa. Inicia-se a única vida que satisfaz! Ela está ao seu alcance, basta obedecer à voz do Mestre.

Tema: Os Dez Mandamentos
Lição 1. A Autoridade Divina

Existe apenas um Deus, e todos os outros são criados por aqueles que não desejam que Deus seja o seu Deus, quer através da religião, da ciência ou simplesmente permanecendo cegos para a verdade.

Ler Êxodo 20:1-17
Eis o 1º Mandamento: “ Eu sou o Senhor teu Deus, que te tirei da terra do Egipto, da casa da servidão. Não terás outros deuses diante de mim.” (Êxodo 20:2,3).
Ao longo da história as pessoas têm-se esforçado por se libertarem das garras dos ditadores e regentes malvados. A maioria dos adolescentes encontram-se em luta tentando libertar-se dos seus pais, de modo a poderem fazer tudo quanto desejam. A libertação de forças externas é deveras relevante, uma vez que nos permite explorar os pontos mais longínquos das nossas possibilidades humanas individuais. No entanto, é bom que haja limites para a nossa liberdade.
Esta liberdade deve estar igualmente acompanhada da responsabilidade. O que significa que somos todos livres de fazer o que bem nos apetecer, dentro de determinadas fronteiras, que vedam o nosso território, tal como um cão que não pode ultrapassar a barreira da vedação do quintal. Surge então a questão: Quem é que nos determina a raia dessa cerca? Como podemos saber o que está certo ou errado? Como distinguir o que é ou não aceitável?
Aqui o 1º Mandamento entra em acção.
Ler Romanos 1:28
Um famoso escritor russo, certa ocasião, proferiu: “Onde não há Deus tudo é lícito.” Quando alguém tenciona exercitar a sua liberdade, quer sem qualquer restrição, quer dentro dos parâmetros que considere aceitáveis, encontra-se numa posição em que nem sequer deseja pensar em Deus. Contudo, o 1º mandamento faz-nos recordar que foi o próprio Deus que nos concedeu a liberdade, que nos “comprou da casa da servidão” e portanto, Ele é o único que tem o direito de estabelecer os limites da nossa liberdade. A isto chama-se “autoridade divina”. È importante que compreendamos que Deus requera a autoridade sobre as nossas vidas, pela virtude do facto de ser o nosso criador. Por outras palavras, Ele vê-nos com os mesmos olhos com que os pais vêem os seus filhos. Portanto, não pensemos em Deus estabelecendo as demarcações das nossas vidas, como Rei ou Juiz, mas antes como Pai e Salvador.
Ler Lucas 6:46-49
Sem a plena aceitação da autoridade de Deus, o resto dos Dez Mandamentos tornam-se pouco mais do que boas sugestões ou ideias. O ultimato da nossa motivação para aceitação da autoridade do Senhor, deveria representar o nosso apreço por tudo quanto Ele tem providenciado para a nossa salvação e libertação.
O 1º Mandamento responsabiliza cada um de nós a demonstrarmos a nossa gratidão pela graça salvadora do Senhor, através da forma como vivemos.
Ler 1 João 5:3
Aceitemos, desde já, a obediência aos mandamentos do Senhor, não como uma tarefa difícil nem pesada. A chave do nosso êxito reside no apreço pela magnitude do relacionamento que Ele deseja manter connosco. No evangelho de Lucas, capítulo 19, versículo 10, Jesus proferiu que “o filho do homem veio buscar o que se havia perdido” e verificamos que o que se havia perdido foi aquele relacionamento especial entre Deus e o primeiro homem, Adão, como resultado do pecado. O pecado derrubou a vedação de protecção e amor que Deus nos providenciara, permitindo que satanás e a selvajaria mundana nos atraísse, afastando-nos do Criador.
Ler Mat. 7:13, 14
A Palavra do Senhor declara, em Mat. 7:13-14: " Entrai pela porta estreita; porque larga é a porta, e espaçoso o caminho que conduz à perdição, e muitos são os que entram por ela; E porque estreita é a porta, e apertado o caminho que leva à vida, e poucos há que a encontrem.” O Senhor tem-nos concedido a escolha de voltarmos à segurança e ao amor da Sua autoridade ou a mantermo-nos afastados dela, através da ciência, religião ou cegueira. Crer meramente, não basta, pois podemos acreditar naquilo que bem entendermos, e portanto não resulta. A fé em Deus que nos conduz à obediência à Sua Palavra é a única forma de regressarmos a Ele.

O 1º Mandamento ensina-nos a respeitar a autoridade do Senhor, pois Ele, de facto, é o único Deus existente.

Lesson 1. The Authority of God

There is only one God, and all others are made up by people who do not want God to be their God, either through religion, science, or just staying blind to the truth.

Read Exodus 20:1-17
The 1st Commandment: “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” (Exodus 20:2,3).
Throughout history people have struggled to be free from the control of dictators and evil rulers. Most teenagers are in the process of struggling to be free from their parents control so they can do whatever they want, whenever they want to. Freedom from external control is important because it allows us to explore the farthest reaches of our individual human possibilities. But there must be certain limits to our freedom.
But with this freedom there must also be responsibility. This means that we are all free to do what we please but within certain limits—like a dog that is free to run around within the limits of the fence that surrounds the back yard. The question then arises: Who defines the fence for us? How do we know what is right and what is wrong? How do we determine what is acceptable and what is not?
This is where the 1st Commandment comes in.
Read Romans 1:28
A famous Russian writer once said, “Where there is no God, all is permitted”. When people want to exercise their freedom either without any limits at all or according to the limits that they think are okay, they find themselves not wanting to even think about God. But the 1st Commandment reminds us that it was God Himself who gave us our freedom, who “brought us out of the house of bondage”—therefore, He is the only one who has the right to determine the limits of our freedom. This is called “the authority of God.”
It is important for us to understand that God claims authority over our lives by virtue of the fact that He has created us. In other words, He sees us the same way parents see their children. So let’s not think of God setting limits in our lives as a King or a Judge, but as a Father and Savior.

Read Luke 6:46-49
Without a full acceptance of the authority of God, the rest of the Ten Commandments become little more than suggestions or good ideas. Our ultimate motivation for accepting God’s authority should be our appreciation that God has provided for our salvation and deliverance.
The 1st Commandment charges each one of us to demonstrate our gratitude for God’s saving grace through the way we live our lives.
Read 1 John 5:3
Let us accept right from the beginning of this study that it is not a hard or burdensome thing to keep the commandments of God. The key is truly appreciating the greatness of the relationship He wants to have with us. In the gospel of Luke, chapter 19, verse 10, Jesus said, “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost” we find that what was lost was the special personal relationship between the first man Adam and God because of sin. Sin destroyed the fence of safety and love God had provided for us, and allows the wilds of the world and the devil to entice us away from God.
Read Matt 7:13,14
The Living Bible translation says, “Matt 7:13-14 "Heaven can be entered only through the narrow gate! The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide enough for all the multitudes who choose its easy way. But the Gateway to Life is small, and the road is narrow, and only a few ever find it.” God has given this choice to us, whether to return to the safety and love of His authority, or stay away, through science, religion or blindness. Merely believing will not do this, because we can believe anything we want, but that does not make it so. Faith in God and obedience to His Word is the only way that leads us back.

The 1st Commandment teaches us that we need to respect God’s authority, because He is the only God there is.

In August of 2008 the Western District of the United Pentecostal church has its annual Camp Meeting in Santa Maria, Ca. The theme was "Storming the Gates" it was a blessed event with powerful preaching and teaching by Jerry Jones (General Secretary-UPCI) and Bill Davis.
We experienced Apostolic-Pentecostal worship and fellowship.
It was a great time to share the good news of the "Portuguese Evangelism" ministry as well as this blog. Many contacts were made and much promotion was done about the upcoming "Portuguese Evangelism" Conference in 2009.

Mateus 9:37 “ A seara é realmente grande, mas poucos os obreiros”

Ao olhar a multidão que os seguia Jesus fez esta observação aos discípulos. Este é o maior apelo de Jesus, sendo igualmente o processo de apetrechamento e autoridade, complementando o sacrifício da cruz. Por que motivo teria Jesus efectuado tal comentário?

Primeiramente, a sua atenção não estava voltada para Ele mesmo, pois no versículo anterior ao supracitado, verificamos que Jesus se pronunciou “vendo a multidão”. Este não era um olhar casual sobre uma rua da cidade barulhenta ou um estabelecimento lotado. Não se tratava de uma mera olhadela mas de um interesse pessoal. Neste últimos dias, devemos desviar os nossos olhos dos nossos próprios assuntos, do mundanismo e de nós mesmos. Para deixarmos de visualizar algo, devemos direccionar a nossa visão noutro sentido. Tendo consciência de que uma coisa é saber, outra o efectuar, como é que isto, de facto, se processa?

Apercebendo-nos do que está por detrás das aparências, acções e palavras; por detrás das suas frustrações, receios, agitação, cansaço e tudo quanto os entristeça e perturbe. Esta era a compaixão sentida por Jesus. O que não significa pena, pois Ele entendia que carenciavam de um relacionamento pessoal com Deus, embora desconhecendo como adquiri-lo. Estava ciente de que necessitavam de um guia que os conduzisse a uma porta estreita, ajudando-os a manterem-se num caminho estrito. Jesus compreendia que desfaleciam, não propriamente esgotados por um longo dia, mas afadigados de religiões, buscando a Deus, bem como, paz uns com os outros; um desgaste espiritual. A percepção da indigência de um pastor, e não de um motel, nem de um autocarro ou restaurante, levou-o a declarar: “ A seara é realmente grande, mas poucos os obreiros.”

O foco principal não incide no facto dos obreiros serem escassos, mas na grandeza da seara. Tendemos, muitas vezes, a enfatizar o negativo; os poucos obreiros. Não existe qualquer motivação nisso. A seara não é abastante dado aos poucos trabalhadores. Muitos são os que trabalham na colheita do Reino de Deus e Ele, na realidade, tenta encorajar-nos, ao transmitir-nos a sua observância; que a seara é realmente vasta, independentemente da nossa saúde, riqueza ou educação. Não necessitamos de aguardar por um melhor emprego, de nos vermos livres de dores, doenças, de mais cultura, talentos, habitação nem da aprovação dos demais. A seara é realmente grande e devemos apenas ser obreiros apostólicos de fé.

Alguns lançam a semente da Palavra de Deus, outros regam--na e Deus dá o crescimento. Eis que é tempo dos ceifeiros, pois “somos feitura sua, criados em Cristo Jesus para as boas obras, as quais Deus preparou para que andássemos nelas.” (Efésios 2:10). O Senhor tem ordenado os nossos pés na Sua vontade, de acordo com Salmos 37:23, colocando cada membro do corpo, conforme Lhe apraz, assim o declara I Coríntios 12:8. Portanto, é nosso dever encontrarmos os nosso lugar e o nosso passo como trabalhadores devotos na sua lavoura, pois Deus não está à espera da seara mas de obreiros.

Compadecidos, contemplemos, então, a multidão e ingressemos na seara para o nome de Jesus Cristo.

The music of Guinea-Bissau is usually associated with the polyrhythmic gumbe genre, the country's primary musical export. However, civil unrest other factors have combined over the years to keep gumbe, and other genres, out of mainstream audiences, even in generally syncretist African countries.
The calabash is the primary musical instrument of Guinea-Bissau, and is used in extremely swift and rhythmically complex dance music. Lyrics are almost always in Guinea-Bissau Creole, a Portuguese-based creole language, and are often humorous and topical, revolving around current events and controversies, especially AIDS.
The word gumbe is sometimes used generically, to refer to any music of the country, although it most specifically refers to a unique style that fuses about ten of the country's folk music traditions. Portuguese Guinea was known also, from its main economic activity, as the Slave Coast. Although the rivers and coast of this area were among the first places colonized by the Portuguese, since the 16th century, the interior was not explored until the nineteenth century. The local African rulers in Guinea, who prospered greatly from the slave trade, had no interest in allowing the Europeans any further inland than the fortified coastal settlements where the trading takes place. The Portuguese presence in Guinea was therefore largely limited to the port of Bissau and Cacheu. For a brief period in the 1790s the British attempt to establish a rival foothold on an offshore island, at Bolama. But by the 19th century the Portuguese were sufficiently secure in Bissau to regard the neighbouring coastline as their own special territory, also up North in part of the present South Senegal.
An armed rebellion beginning in 1956 by the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC) under the leadership of Amílcar Cabral gradually consolidated its hold on the country. Unlike guerilla movements in other Portuguese colonies, the PAIGC rapidly extended its military control over large portions of the country, aided by the jungle-like terrain, its easily-reached borderlines with neighbouring countries and large quantities of arms from Cuba, China, the Soviet Union, and other African countries. Cuba also agreed to supply artillery experts, doctors and technicians.[1] The PAIGC even managed to acquire a significant anti-aircraft capability in order to defend itself against aerial attack. By 1973, the PAIGC was in control of most of the country. Independence was unilaterally declared on September 24, 1973, and was recognized by a 93-7 UN General Assembly vote in November 1973. [1] Recognition became universal following the 1974 socialist-inspired military coup in Portugal.Following independence local soldiers that fought along with the Portuguese Army against the PAIGC guerrillas were slaughtered by the thousands. A small number escaped to Portugal or to other African nations. The most famous massacre occurred in Bissorã. In 1980 PAIGC admitted in its newspaper "Nó Pintcha" (dated 29/11/1980) that many were executed and buried in unmarked collective graves in the woods of Cumerá, Portogole and Mansabá.
The country was controlled by a revolutionary council until 1984. The first multi-party elections were held in 1994, but an army uprising in 1998 led to the president's ousting and the Guinea-Bissau Civil War. Elections were held again in 2000 and Kumba Ialá was elected president.
In September 2003, a coup took place in which the military arrested Ialá on the charge of being "unable to solve the problems." After being delayed several times, legislative elections were held in March 2004 . A mutiny of military factions in October 2004 resulted in the death of the head of the armed forces, and caused widespread unrest.
In June 2005, presidential elections were held for the first time since the coup that deposed Ialá. Ialá returned as the candidate for the PRS, claiming to be the legitimate president of the country, but the election was won by former president João Bernardo Vieira, deposed in the 1998 coup. Vieira was a candidate for one of the factions of the PAIGC. Vieira beat Malam Bacai Sanhá in a runoff-election, but Sanhá refused initially to concede, claiming that the elections have been fraudulent in two constituencies, including the capital, Bissau.
Despite reports that there had been an influx of arms in the weeks leading up to the election and reports of some "disturbances during campaigning" - including attacks on the presidential palace and the Interior Ministry by as-yet-unidentified gunmen - European monitors labelled the election as "calm and organized".

The average rainfall for Bissau is 2024 mm although this is almost entirely accounted for during the rainy season which falls between June and September/October. Matt 9:37 “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few”

Jesus spoke this observation to His disciples as He looked on the multitudes following them. This is the greatest prayer request Jesus made, and it is the process of empowerment from the work of the cross. So what caused Jesus to make this observation?
First, His eyes were not on Himself. In the previous verse we see that Jesus “saw the multitudes”. This was not a casual look as we do when we look down a busy city street, or in a crowded store. Not a mere glance, but a personal interest. In these last days, we must take our eyes off of our own things, the things of the world and self. To stop looking at one thing it is necessary to be looking at something else. Knowing this is one thing, but doing it is another. How do we actually do this, then?
By perceiving behind people’s appearance, actions and words – beyond their frustration, fear and stress. This is how Jesus had compassion, not pity, because He knew they wanted to have a real relationship with God, but did not know how. He knew they needed a guide who could get them to the strait gate, and to help them stay in the narrow way. Jesus saw that they were faint, but this was not so much because of the long day, but of the weariness of religion and searching for relationship, both with God, and at peace with one another. This was a spiritual faintness, as He saw their need of a shepherd, not a motel, or bus, or restaurant. This is what caused Him to say, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few”.
The main focus of this is not how few the laborers, but how big the harvest is. We have a tendency to view the negative; too few laborers. But there is no motivation in that. The harvest is not plenteous because the laborers are few. Many people are working in the Kingdom of God in this harvest. God is actually encouraging us by telling us what He is seeing; the harvest is truly plenteous. So it is not important how our health, wealth and education are. There is no need to wait for a better job, or to get rid of our aches, pains and sicknesses, to get more educated or talented, or worry about our houses and peoples’ approval. The harvest is plenteous. It just needs obedient apostolic laborers of faith.
Some are sowers of the seed of the Word of God. Some do the watering. God then gives the increase. Now it is time
for the harvesters. “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10 The Lord has ordered our steps in His will (Psalms 37:23), and
placed each member in the body of Christ as it pleases Him (1Corinthians 12:18). So it is then up to us to find our place
and find our pace, as devoted laborers in His harvest, because God is not looking for the harvest; He is looking for the laborers. May we look on the multitudes with compassion, and step into the harvest, for the name of Jesus.

I believe that this is the day and hour for revival. I am excited about the praise reports we have received from Rhode Island, Sao Miguel, Portugal and California. This truly is our day and time for a move of GOD amongst the Portuguese speaking people. I urge each of you to keep the "FAITH" and proceed in Jesus name. The name of the LORD is a strong and mighty tower. We must continue on and believe in "FAITH" that the LORD will save the Portuguese speaking nations/people.

I encourage all that read this message to take the Portuguese speaking ministers/pastors/evangelists/missionaries in prayer. Pray that the LORD of the harvest with strengthen their hands and lead them to hungry people. Our GOD is not a small GOD or a GOD that cannot provide for his people. He is the ALMIGHTY GOD that can do ANYTHING!

OS QUE VÊEM PARA ALÉM DO QUE OS OLHOS VÊEM, UM DIA VERÃO A DEUS!

Nasci no Arquipélago da Madeira e desde cedo os meus pais vieram para o Continente. A minha esposa, oriunda de Angola, mais tarde viveu na antiga Rodésia, actual Zimbabwe, onde se converteu através do ministério da Missionária Wilma Ruth Nix e do seu querido pai, o Pastor Nix. Contudo, devido á situação política do país, pouco depois veio para Portugal. Pela graça do Senhor, fui baptizado nas águas, em nome de Jesus Cristo e cheio do Espírito Santo sob o ministério do nosso amado Missionário e Pastor Joseph Domingues e família, pioneiros no evangelho de Portugal. Nunca olvidaremos a nossa doce Irmã Andrade, uma verdadeira serva do Senhor que muito labutou na seara desta nação, e sempre recordaremos com profunda saudade o Irmão Mc Farland e esposa, que ainda tivemos o privilégio de abraçar, pela última vez, antes de partir para o Senhor. O Irmão Domingues e ele realizaram ambos a cerimónia do nosso casamento, e assim, fomos abençoados com dois filhos, o Oscar, nascido em Bulawayo, e a Denise, pura lisboeta.

Sendo as nossas raízes de tão diversos locais temos sentido um grande amor e peso por todas as gentes e raças, muito em particular de Língua Portuguesa. Desde 1987 pastoreámos a congressão de Linda-a-Velha e abrimos igualmente vários outros locais de pregação, incluindo Setúbal, Sobral de Monte Agraço, Rinchoa, Terceira, nos Açores, etc. Não obstante, desde 2003 abraçamos um novo ministério; dar apoio e assistência á zona da grande Lisboa e a vários pontos da do país, onde não existiam igrejas estabelecidas.

A ultima alma baptizada foi em Coimbra. Uma senhora que foi submetida a uma cirurgia para remoção dum tumor cerebral. Consequentemente, passou a andar com um andarilho e o seu lado direito ficou sem qualquer mobilidade. Foi com uma enorme dificuldade que a baptizei na sua banheira. O braço direito tão rígido estava que se encontrava preso á cintura como se fosso uma barra de ferro, completamente inflexível. Mas para a glória do Senhor, desde então temos visto grandes progressos. Logo que saiu das águas começou a andar com mais ligeireza. O andarilho foi posto de lado e, actualmente, usa apenas uma cana. Consegue também esticar o braço direito que adquiriu a mesma cor do esquerdo, a qual havia perdido. Apesar de não ter ainda força nele, se for ajudada já o leva acima da cabeça, o que esteve impossibilitada de fazer durante vários anos anteriores. Já desce as escadas do prédio sozinha e todos os dias glorifica o Senhor pelo quanto tem feito nela.

Esta alma preciosa, Maria Luísa, lê diariamente a palavra do Senhor, e apesar de depender de outrem para a pentearem, deixou de cortar o cabelo e com grande alegria diz-nos que já está muito mais comprido. É maravilhoso ver o quanto Deus tem feito nesta vida que está ansiosa pela dádiva do Espírito Santo, e por isso, pedimos que orem connosco para que a receba em breve. Uma vez que é bastante distante daqui não a podemos visitar com a frequência que gostaríamos. Embora lhe concedamos apoio quase diário, telefonicamente.

Temos muitas outras pessoas nas nossas mãos e pedimos orações também por elas, pois são-nos igualmente especiais, embora, muitas vezes, sintamo-nos limitados pelos meios. No entanto, conhecemos o Deus do impossível, que tudo sabe; aquele que vê para além do que os olhos vêem, e sinto que Ele requer precisamente o mesmo de nós.

Recordo-me de uma altura em que Jesus enunciou: “Eu sou a luz do mundo; quem me seguir não andará em trevas, mas terá a luz da vida.” (João 8:12). No entanto, os seus perseguidores, olhando para o seu corpo humano, avistaram-no apenas como um homem e não tendo os olhos espirituais abertos, não contemplaram aquele invólucro terrestre como sendo o tabernáculo de Deus com os homens e, por isso, não vislumbravam nele o Seu Espírito, que é Santo, que é o próprio Pai. Por isso, Jesus respondeu-lhes: “Vós julgais segundo a carne.....” pois não haviam compreendido que Jesus era o mesmo Eu Sou que falara a Moisés na sarça ardente, pois Ele é, de facto, “o mesmo ontem, e hoje e eternamente.” Heb. 13:8.

Julgando segundo a carne, nunca avistaríamos o que está por detrás... a verdade no íntimo. Nunca distinguiríamos o coração, as dores e as necessidades; o clamor da humanidade nem tão pouco da divindade. Olhemos pois para Jesus, autor e consumador da nossa fé e sigamos o seu exemplo, porque os que vêem para além do que os olhos vêem um dia verão “.....aquele que resplandeceu em nossos corações, para iluminação da glória de Deus, na face de Jesus Cristo!” ( II Cor. 4:6).

Isa 29:18 "And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness."

Isa 42:8-10 "I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof."

It is the principle of these scriptures and their promises which will bring the long awaited revival to the wonderful people of the Azores Islands. The first accomplishment is Spiritual warfare, driven by righteous anger because of the spiritual wickedness which has held them in darkness, captive at the will of the devil (1Tim 2:25-26 & Luk 4:18). After this is intercession, driven by the compassion of God (Mat 9:36 "But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd."). Then comes the roll-up-the-sleeves action part (Luk 10:2 "Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest." We are presently working in the intercession and rolling-up-the-sleeves part, in order to bring these scriptures to fruition. Three of the islands have people who have received the gospel to obey it, having experienced a true repentance, having been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, and receiving the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking other tongues.
If the Lord has personally spoken to anyone who may read this, please feel free to respond to this article, because in Aos Romanos 10:17 "De sorte que a fé é pelo ouvir, e o ouvir pela palavra de Deus." Or, in English, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." The word "word" in this text is rhema, which is the personal inspiration of God for that person to believe God for. There is much preparation and work to be accomplished, and we know that it is in God's timing and power that it will be done.

Testemunho Gostaríamos de partilhar convosco um grandioso milagre que Deus fez com a nossa netinha, ainda, não nascida, de cinco para seis meses de gestação. Passamos a traduzir parte do e-mail enviado pela nossa nora:

“Pai, Mãe e Nini,
Como têm estado ultimamente? Agradeço as vossas orações e o vosso amor. Não sei tudo quanto o Oscar vos contou, mas Deus tem feito grandes coisas no nosso lar. Começo com o milagre da nossa pequenina. Os médicos estavam certos de que o coração do da estava incompleto, informando-nos ser a razão das complicações da minha gravidez. O Oscar pediu orações na igreja e ungiram-me com óleo. Uma semana mais tarde voltei ao médico e nada se havia alterado. Continuámos a orar e na segunda semana, regressando de novo ao consultório, o médico disse: ‘Eu simplesmente não entendo, comparando as imagens das últimas três semanas com estas, verifico que o coração da bebé está completamente formado e a funcionar perfeitamente.’ Que milagre Deus fez para nós!,,,,,” É-nos impossível não chorar de gratidão e decidimos partilhar com todos este grande milagre, em nome de Jesus. Luso American

Luso-Americans, or Lusitanic Americans are people living in the United States whose cultural background derives in part from countries with Portuguese speaking roots or traditions.
Luso-Americans include Portuguese Americans, whose roots are directly Portuguese; Brazilian-Americans; and those from other parts of the Lusophone world, such as Cape Verde, Angola or Mozambique. Because of the wide range of national origins of Luso-Americans, the group is considered a cultural one, rather than a homogeneous ethnic group. People of African, Macanese, Portuguese Jewish, and many other origins may be, under certain circumstances, considered Luso-Americans.
A Portuguese American, in contrast, denotes any person born in the United States whose family came to the USA from Portugal.

Luso-Americans can be found in all states and there are sizable Luso-American communities in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New York, Hawaii, Florida, Delaware and Virginia. In total, the members of this community may be more than 3.5 million Americans. Two United States counties, namely Bristol County, Rhode Island and Bristol County, Massachusetts, are home to pluralities of people of Portuguese ancestry. There was dense Portuguese settlement in the Salinas and San Joaquin Valleys in California, namely the cities of Los Banos and Hollister.

Luso-Americans are highly numerous in the metropolitan New York City area. The Ironbound section of Newark, New Jersey is also called "Little Portugal", and 46th Street in Manhattan is also named "Little Brazil Street". Portuguese is also spoken by some Chinese and Macanese immigrants from Macau, especially in California.

Luso-Americans also include speakers of Portuguese-based creoles, such as Macanese (Patuá or Macaista Chapado) and Papiamento. Elements of the Portuguese language can also be found in other former colonies such as Goa and Timor.

Em grande apreço e estima pelo nosso povo espalhado pelos quatros cantos do globo, como Coordenador Nacional de Língua Portuguesa, por parte da IPUI/UPCI, desejo marcar aqui a minha presença, expressando o meu amor pelo nosso Deus, Jesus Cristo, bem como a minha disponibilidade ao serviço do Rei dos reis.

Neste presente século, em que o mundo se afigura sem esperança, onde tudo parece desmoronar-se e há tanta dor, muito sinceramente, é bom anunciar que alguém se importa connosco e nos oferece uma vida nova, nesta travessia do deserto espiritual. Vem-me á memória as palavras do Senhor da Glória, ainda antes de ascender aos céus, conforme João 7: 37, “E no último dia, o grande dia da festa, Jesus pôs-se em pé, e clamou, dizendo: Se alguém tem sede, venha a mim, e beba.” Após se assentar no trono, Jesus persiste no mesmo intento, como nos revela Apocalipse 21:4-7, “E Deus limpará de seus olhos toda a lágrima; e não haverá mais morte, nem pranto, nem clamor, nem dor; porque já as primeiras coisas são passadas. E o que estava assentado sobre o trono disse: Eis que faço novas todas as coisas. E disse-me: Escreve; porque estas palavras são verdadeiras e fiéis. E disse-me mais: Está cumprido. Eu sou o Alfa e o Omega, o princípio e o fim. A quem quer que tiver sede, de graça lhe darei da fonte da água da vida. Quem vencer, herdará todas as coisas; e eu serei seu Deus, e ele será meu filho.”

Eis que Ele está à porta, e bate; se alguém ouvir a voz, e abrir a porta, Jesus entrará em sua casa, e com ele ceará... Escutemos a sua voz.

Bio: Joseph and Jean Collins served six and one-half years as AIMers before receiving their missionary appointment to Mexico in September 1996. While AIMers in Mexico, they started three churches, helped in the Bible schools, and helped the other missionaries while pastoring a Spanish-speaking work in Laredo, Texas. In 1999, the Collinses moved to Zacatecas, Mexico, and began the first church in that city and became the supervisor over the Zac-Aguas District. When they furloughed in August 2002, they had a church of over 95 faithful members that they turned to Gerardo Aranda. Now that church has 110 members. The Collinses returned to the field in August 2003 but transferred to Portugal in mid-2004. They live in Lisbon, and he is the sub-director of all the Bible schools in Portugal.

Joseph Domingues founded the United Pentecostal Church of Portugal in 1972. The Republic of Cape Verde (Portuguese: Cabo Verde, IPA: ['kabu 'veɾdɨ]), is a republic located on an archipelago in the Macaronesia ecoregion of the North Atlantic Ocean, off the western coast of Africa. The previously uninhabited islands were discovered and colonized by the Portuguese in the fifteenth century (though there may have been earlier discoveries), and attained independence in 1975.

Cape Verde is named after Cap Vert (meaning Green Cape) in Senegal, the westernmost point of continental Africa. The country's name can be pronounced many ways in English. Cape is pronounced like the article of clothing, and Verde is pronounced either to rhyme with "bird", "birdy", "bear D", or "bear day". "Cabo" is not used in English.

Cape Verde was uninhabited when the Portuguese arrived in 1460 and made the islands part of the Portuguese empire. Due to its location off the coast of Africa, Cape Verde became an important watering station, then sugar cane plantation site, and later a major hub of the trans-atlantic slave trade, that would later form the contemporary African Diaspora.

Cape Verde is an archipelago off the west coast of Africa at 15.02N, 23.34W. It is formed by 10 main islands and about 8 islets. The main islands are:

The culture of Cape Verde reflects its mixed African and Portuguese roots. It is well known for its diverse forms of music such as Morna and a wide variety of dances: the soft dance Morna, and its modernized version, passada, the Funaná - a sensual mixed Portuguese and African dance, the extreme sensuality of coladeira, and the Batuque dance. These are reflective of the diverse origins of Cape Verde's residents. The term "Criolo" is used to refer to residents as well as the culture of Cape Verde.

Cape Verde's official language is Portuguese. It is the language of instruction and official acts. However, the Cape Verdean Creole is used colloquially and is the mother tongue of virtually all Cape Verdeans. Cape Verdean Creole or Kriolu is a dialect continuum of a Portuguese-based creole, which varies from island to island

The Azores (Portuguese: Açores pronounced [ɐˈsoɾɨʃ] or [ɐˈsoɾʃ]) are a Portuguese archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, about 1,500 km (950 mi) from Lisbon and about 3,900 km (2,400 mi) from the east coast of North America. The two westernmost Azorean islands (Flores and Corvo) actually lie on the North American plate and are only 1,925 km (1,200 mi) from St. John's in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The Azores' most significant industries are tourism, cattle raising for milk and meat, and fishing.
The nine major Azorean islands and the eight small Formigas extend for more than 600 km (373 mi) and lie in a northwest-southeast direction. The vast extension of the islands defines an immense exclusive economic zone of 1.1 million km². The westernmost point of this area is 3,380 km (2,100 mi) from the North American continent. All of the islands have volcanic origins, although Santa Maria also has some reef contribution. The mountain of Pico on Pico Island, at 2,351 m (7,713 ft) in altitude, is the highest in all of Portugal. The Azores are actually the tops of some of the tallest mountains on the planet, as measured from their base at the bottom of the ocean. The archipelago forms the Autonomous Region of Azores, one of the two autonomous regions of Portugal.
Although it is commonly said that the archipelago is named after the goshawk (Açor in Portuguese) because it was supposed to be a common bird at the time of discovery, the bird actually never existed on the islands. Some historians indicate the archaic Portuguese word "azules" (the plural of blue) because of the colour of the islands when seen from afar. Most, however, insist that the name is derived from birds, pointing to a local subspecies of the buzzard (Buteo buteo), as the animal the first explorers erroneously identified as goshawks.

There are five cities in the Azores: Ponta Delgada and Ribeira Grande on São Miguel Island; Angra do Heroísmo and Praia da Vitória on the island of Terceira, and Horta on the island of Faial. Three of these Ponta Delgada, Angra and Horta are considered capital cities in the regional government, homes to the President (Ponta Delgada), the Judiciary (Angra) and the Regional Assembly (Horta).

On 31 December 2002, the Azores' population was 238,767 at a density of 106 inhabitants per square kilometer (274.5/sq mi).
